Expressions of agreement or disagreement

Welcome to our blog one more week! Let’s learn about expressions of agreement or disagreement.

In learning Spanish, it is crucial to be able to express your opinions and views clearly and effectively. A fundamental part of this is the ability to express agreement or disagreement in everyday conversations.

Today we present some useful strategies and phrases to master this communicative ability:

Expressing Agreement:

  1. Totalmente de acuerdo!: This expression indicates a complete and emphatic agreement. For example: “¡Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con tu propuesta!”
  2. Exactamente : This word confirms that you agree with what has been said. For example: “Exactamente, eso es lo que pienso también.”
  3. Sin duda alguna: It indicates an unreserved agreement. For example: “Sin duda alguna, esta es la mejor opción.”

Expressing Disagreement:

  1. No estoy de acuerdo: A direct way to express disagreement. For example: “No estoy de acuerdocon esa afirmación.”
  2. Respeto tu opinión, pero…: This phrase softens disagreement by showing respect for the other’s opinion before expressing your own perspective. For example: “Respeto tu opinión, pero yo creo que deberíamos considerar otras opciones.”
  3. Entiendo lo que dices, pero en mi opinión…: This expression recognizes the point of view of the interlocutor before entering your own opinion. For example: “Entiendo lo que dices, pero en mi opinión, deberíamos abordar el problema de manera diferente.”

It is important to remember that when expressing disagreement, it should always be done in a respectful and considerate manner towards the other person.
