Differences between saber and conocer

To understand and practice the use of the verbs saber and conocer in different communicative contexts, identifying their differences and most common combinations.
Common Structures with the Verb SABER:
🔹 SABER + infinitive
Expresses the ability or skill to do something.
👉 I know how to swim.
🔹 SABER + que / si / question words
(what, where, when, why, etc.)
Indicates knowledge of facts or specific information.
👉 Do you know if they’re coming tomorrow?
👉 I know where Juan lives.
🔹 SABER A + noun
Expresses perception of taste or smell.
👉 This coffee tastes like cinnamon.
Common Structures with the Verb CONOCER:
🔹 CONOCER A + person
Expresses a relationship or familiarity with someone.
👉 I don’t know your brother.
🔹 CONOCER + place / thing
Indicates direct experience or familiarity with a place or topic.
👉 I know this city well.
🔹 CONOCERSE (reflexive form)
Used to talk about mutual or personal acquaintance.
👉 We’ve known each other for years.
