Are you thinking about surprising your partner on Valentine’s Day? Would you like to take your “better half” to a place that she/he will never forget?

Good news: you are in the right place if you want to amaze your partner – and discover an amazing city in the process! AIL Malaga has put together our top 5 ideas for an unforgettable Valentine’s Day in Malaga.

Read on to discover our favourite places to go with your loved one in Malaga – the most romantic Valentine’s Day ever lies ahead! Be careful though – this post might make you rethink your usual go-to “pizza and a movie” date night for life

1. A delicious dinner by the sea

Málaga enjoys a superb location next to the Mediterranean sea. It goes without saying, then, that if you’re here for Valentine’s, having a nice dinner in a beautiful place by the sea is an easy but incredible option.

A top spot for a romantic dinner by the sea is the Balneario del Carmen. This romantic restaurant offers a varied menu of Mediterranean and Italian dishes. In addition to the delicious food, you will enjoy the best views around. Located right on the corner of the bay, you will be centimetres away from the sea, with a perfect view of the city lights twinkling against the backdrop of Malaga’s mountains. Book soon – both the saloon and the spacious terrace are wildly popular options (and for good reason!).

2. A trip for two on Malaga’s Big Wheel

The Costa del Sol’s answer to the London Eye offers a few isolated moments above the city and sea in the newest and most fun addition to the host of viewpoints in Malaga.

High above the city and directly between the Mediterranean sea and Calle Larios, you’ll be sure to impress your partner during your 15 romantic minutes.

Bonus points: plan a romantic walk for afterwards and point out your destinations as you see them. You’ve got plenty of options: the Cathedral, the Alcazaba, the lighthouse… all absolutely breathtaking!

3. Watch the sunset at the “Mirador de Gibralfaro”

Taking a romantic walk to the “Mirador” is the perfect chance for some bonding time with your partner – and the steep incline will make sure you’ve earned the romantic candlelit dinner you’ve got planned for afterwards! It takes around 20 minutes to get to the viewpoint and you can easily spend as much time as you’d like up there. The views are absolutely astonishing at dusk – see the sunset reflected in the Mediterranean and watch the city sparkle.

In particular, if you wish to share a romantic moment that costs you 0€, this is the plan for you! We recommend starting from nearby the Plaza de Toros, where you can also meander through the gardens at the bottom of the hill.

4. Walk and picnic on the beach

Another one for those of you that think the best things in life come free! There are 14km of beaches in Malaga, so take a stroll hand-in-hand with your loved one and feel the Mediterranenan breeze in your hair.

While there, why not find the perfect spot for a nice surprise picnic! Bring your partner’s favourite food and pair it with a Spanish speciality such as “tinto de verano” for a truly special time. Malaga still enjoys some of Spain’s best temperatures in February, so you and your Valentine can even catch some afternoon sun while you relax. It does cool down by the beach in the evening, but bring blankets and enjoy the sundown.

5. An unforgettable stay at a luxury hotel

A night of luxury in a beautiful hotel can be the perfect way to show your loved one you care. Our favourite in Malaga is the Hotel Molina Lario. It has the perfect central location near to the Cathedral of Malaga, so you can also tick off the other Valentine’s activities we’ve mentioned while you stay!

Plus – enjoy all the romantic facilities you could dream of: a swimming pool/solarium, peaceful terrace with views, lounges, beautifully decorated rooms.

No matter where you choose to stay, don’t forget to prepare yourself and impress your partner with our vocabulary for the hotel in Spanish!

That’s it for our top 5 romantic Valentine’s Day plans! We hope you liked these ideas and that you can use them to prepare your perfect Valentine’s Day. And if you liked it, share this article with your friends!
