Hello everyone! Today, I want to share with you an experience that combines two of my favorite passions: learning Spanish and exploring new destinations. This cultural gem is just a step away from Madrid, and I’ll show you how to take a day trip to Segovia. You’ll be able to discover and enjoy its wonders, as well as savor the delicious typical dishes that you shouldn’t miss.

How to Get to Segovia from Madrid

To get to Segovia from Madrid and immerse yourself in Spanish culture while perfecting your Spanish, the most convenient way is to take a high-speed train (AVE) from Madrid-Chamartín train station. AVE trains are known for their efficiency and comfort, and in about 30 minutes, you’ll be in the picturesque city of Segovia.

Once you arrive in Segovia, you’ll be surrounded by history and impressive architecture. One of the most emblematic places is the famous Aqueduct of Segovia, a masterpiece of Roman engineering that has stood for centuries.

The Alcázar of Segovia is another highlight that deserves your attention. This fortress looks like it’s taken from a fairy tale, with its pointed towers and its location on top of a hill. Exploring the various rooms and gardens of the Alcázar will allow you not only to practice your Spanish but also to learn about the medieval history of Spain.

Exploring Segovia doesn’t just involve exploring its history but also savoring its delicious cuisine. Be sure to try the famous roasted suckling pig, a traditional dish that Segovia has perfected over the years. Another dish you shouldn’t miss is “sopa castellana,” a rich and comforting garlic soup that will surely give you a deeper understanding of regional cuisine as you expand your Spanish vocabulary.

The journey to Segovia, from the beginning of getting on the train, through the exploration of its historical monuments, to the delight of local cuisine, offers you opportunities to learn and improve your Spanish at every step of the way.
