Master the Past: The Pretérito Perfecto for Beginners (A1)
Have you ever wondered how to say “I have traveled” or “Today I have eaten” in Spanish? Meet the Pretérito Perfecto. It’s the perfect bridge between what you know and the past. We use it to talk about recent actions or life experiences without a specific date.
The Magic Formula
Think of this tense as a team of two players that can never be separated:
Haber (Present): he, has, ha, hemos, habéis, han.
The Participle: Verbs ending in -ado (for -AR) or -ido (for -ER/-IR).
Example: Yo he comido una paella hoy. (I have eaten a paella today.)
When to use it?
Look out for these “time markers” (keywords):
Hoy (Today)
Esta semana (This week)
Alguna vez (Ever)
Nunca (Never)
