A Typical Day Learning Spanish: Inside an Intensive Spanish Course
What is it really like to learn Spanish in Spain?
Maybe you’re imagining hours of grammar exercises, vocabulary lists and textbooks.
But studying Spanish in Spain can look very different.
That’s what makes an Intensive Spanish Course in Spain different: Spanish doesn’t end when class finishes.
Your entire day becomes part of the learning experience.
Let’s take a look at what a typical day could be like.
9:00 – Welcome to your new Spanish school
9:10 – Your Intensive Spanish Course begins
11:00 – Coffee break… but keep speaking Spanish
Class break doesn’t necessarily mean Spanish break.
This is when you can chat with classmates, meet people from different countries and start building your international community.
And there’s an important advantage to studying in an international environment:
Spanish becomes the language you have in common.
13:00 – Classes finish. Welcome Tapas begin
Your first classes might be over.
Your AIL experience isn’t.
After class, new students have the opportunity to come together for our Welcome Tapas.
It’s a relaxed way to meet the people you’ve just shared your first classes with, talk to other students and start making connections from your very first day.
No awkward “How am I going to meet people?”
You already have somewhere to start.
Share some tapas, introduce yourself, practise your Spanish and discover who you’ll be exploring Spain with over the next few weeks.
14:00 – Your Spanish continues outside the classroom
At 14:00, there’s another opportunity waiting for you: cultural activities.
Learning Spanish isn’t only about studying the language.
It’s about understanding the culture behind it.
AIL Español’s cultural activities give students another opportunity to discover their destination, meet other international students and continue using Spanish in a completely different environment.
Depending on the programme and activity calendar, your afternoon could become another opportunity to explore Spanish culture and everyday life.
And there’s an important difference:
You’re not experiencing it alone.
You’re sharing it with other students who, just like you, have come to Spain to learn, explore and meet people.
16:00 – Explore your city
Madrid, Málaga, Barcelona or Valencia?
Wherever you decide to study, your destination becomes part of your language-learning experience.
Walk through different neighbourhoods, visit museums, discover local cafés, go shopping or simply sit in a plaza and listen to Spanish being spoken around you.
AIL Español currently has Spanish schools in Madrid, Málaga, Barcelona and Valencia, giving international students the opportunity to combine language learning with living in some of Spain’s most popular destinations.
20:30 – Look how much Spanish you’ve already used
By evening, you might not even realise how much Spanish you’ve used.
You studied it in class.
You ordered food with it.
You heard it on the street.
You used it with classmates.
You saw it on menus, signs and public transport.
And tomorrow?
You do it all again.
Why choose an Intensive Spanish Course in Spain?
If your goal is to make Spanish an active part of your everyday life, an intensive course allows you to combine structured learning with continuous exposure to the language.
That continuous contact with Spanish is one of the biggest reasons students choose to study Spanish in Spain rather than learning exclusively from home.
