How to Get the SIELE Certificate: Process, Format and Benefits
Do you need to prove your Spanish for university, work or your CV? SIELE is a flexible digital option that assesses your current ability without requiring you to choose a B1, B2 or C1 exam in advance. Results are also available within a maximum of three weeks.
What is SIELE?
The International Spanish Language Evaluation Service assesses and certifies Spanish proficiency through four tests: reading, listening, writing and speaking. It is taken on a computer and uses the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) as its reference scale.
SIELE is promoted by Instituto Cervantes, UNAM, the University of Salamanca and the University of Buenos Aires. It also includes different varieties of Spanish, making it particularly relevant for international study and work.
How to Get the SIELE Certificate
1. Check the requirements. Confirm that the university, employer or organisation accepts SIELE and find out which score or skills it requires.
2. Choose the right option. SIELE Global assesses all four skills. The S1 to S5 independent options certify specific combinations of reading, listening, writing and speaking.
3. Book a date and test centre. The exam is offered by appointment at authorised centres, making it easier to find a date that fits your schedule.
4. Prepare for the format. Practise the tasks, time management and recorded speaking responses. Knowing the interface helps reduce mistakes and exam-day nerves.
5. Take the exam. Bring the same identity document used for registration. You can later download your certificate or report from your personal account.
